Volunteers Needed
▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪
The Granite Mountain Records Vault holds the largest
collection of family history records in the world. The
FamilySearch Scanning Project
is converting these microfilmed records into high-quality
digital images that will be available free of charge
to everyone via the Internet.
Volunteers are needed to extract family history
information from these digital images to create indexes
that will help others search for relevant information about
their ancestors more efficiently.
Anyone interested in family history is invited to be a
volunteer indexer.
A high-speed Internet connection is required. You can work at
your convenience. A batch contains up to 50 records
that takes approximately 30-60 minutes to complete. You
can stop at any time, save your work, and resume where
you left off. You have a week to finish the batch.
To volunteer, go to:
www.FamilySearchIndexing.org and click “Volunteer.”
Follow the instructions to install the program onto your
computer. There is no paperwork to keep track of. On the
upper part of your screen, you’ll see the digital image. The
lower part of your screen is the table where you type in
specific information from the record.
For an opportunity to search the records that have
already been indexed, go to:
www.familysearch.org.
Under “Start Your Family History,” click on “Record Search Pilot
